Thanks to the passionate efforts of Dragon alumni and supporters, a beloved piece of Carroll football history is about to make a triumphant return.
The original state championship sign that once stood at the old stadium on Carroll Avenue is too weathered to fully restore, but thanks to the craftsmanship of sign-maker Curtis Pinson (Class of '93) and the collaborative efforts of a Dragon Alumni group, an exact replica will soon be on display at the new stadium.
The project is officially underway following the approval of the Carroll ISD school board and head football coach and athletic director Riley Dodge. The alumni are stepping up to handle everything from electrical work to concrete pouring and landscaping.
A fundraising campaign is now live with a goal of raising $20,000. These funds will cover all project expenses, including the sign, permits, electrical setup, and landscaping. Anything raised beyond the project’s cost will be donated to the Dragon Touchdown Club to support future players.
