The Carroll boys doubles tennis teams of Rushil Rajpal and Haydn Kim, and Andrew Whitehead and Danil Kazakov, had quite the weekend at the University Interscholastic League Class 6A spring tennis championships.
Rajpal/Kim and Whitehead/Kazakov ended up on opposite side of the bracket for the semifinals, meaning if both Carroll teams won their respective matches, the Class 6A doubles final would have been an all-Dragon affair.
Whitehead and Kazakov defeated Sorathan Leekumjorn and Aidan Xu of Katy's Seven Lakes in two sets, 6-4 and 6-0. Unfortunately, Rajpal and Kim were unable to win their semifinal match, falling to Round Rock Westwood brothers Daniel and Devon Zhang in three sets.
Despite winning the second set, Whitehead and Kazakov ultimately fell to the Zhang brothers in the Class 6A championship round, losing in three sets, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.
