While many athletes did not compete, Carroll Cross Country still shined at the Keller HS Invitational on October 3. Freshman Jude Alvarez was Carroll’s top runner for the boys varsity race, finishing fourth overall. Sophomore David Fisher finished ninth, freshman Brady Golomb finished 11th and senior Noah Castro finished 23rd.
For the girls, freshman Lily Garland finished fifth overall, sophomore Anna Hall finished 16th, junior Karley Beall finished 17th, freshman Julia Gassett finished 19th and freshman Tatum Janning finished 22nd.
For girls JV, freshman Kylee Cusick finished first, junior McKaylee McAdoo finished fifth, freshman Peer Foreman finished sixth, sophomore Hannah McIlvain finished 12th and sophomore Riley Valcin finished 18th. The boys JV team was led by sophomore Jack Litwin who finished second. He was followed by freshman Ryan Van de Berghe, who finished fifth; junior Daniel Kieda who finished ninth; senior Ethan Satsky, who finished 10th; and sophomore Ethan Thomas, who finished 15th.
“I was really proud of our young men and women today,” head coach Justin Leonard says. “Some of them were running in varsity or JV races for the first time, and they gave it all they had. That’s all I ever ask, and they competed very well.”
The Dragons will next be in action on Saturday, October 10, at the Marcus I Invitational in Denton.
