Dragon Tennis finished its fall season on Tuesday, falling to Plano West in the playoffs. While they didn’t make it all the way, these Dragons finished season with their 10th consecutive district title.
Dragon Tennis remained undefeated in district play with an overall fall season record of 15-3.
“We are in one of the tougher regions with Plano West, Coppell and Allen. There are 242 6A high schools in Texas and to finish in the top eight is exceptional,” head coach Corey Aldridge says. “I’m super proud of our kids and what they’ve accomplished.”
Compared to last year’s finish in the state semi-finals, Dragon Tennis ended their season a win short. But with the UIL realignment, this year’s Region 1 is loaded with talent, Corey says.
“After our loss on Tuesday, I didn’t see a lot of tears or negativity. Our kids felt like they gave it their all, and that’s what I asked. Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely disappointed,” Corey says. “However, they competed and gave it their all.”
Up next for Dragon Tennis is the preparation for the spring season. Tennis is the only UIL sport that has both fall and spring seasons.
“We are super fortunate to have such a supportive cast supporting us. From the backbone of our program, our parents, to the Carroll Athletic Booster Club who helps fund our program and to our supportive administration who accommodates and cheers us on,” Corey says. "We are blessed.”
