Southlake Carroll dominated on both sides of the ball at Globe Life Field in Arlington last Saturday. The Dragons scored 42 points while allowing just 129 yards of offense and one touchdown to defeat Midland Legacy 42-7.
The star of the game was running back Owen Allen, our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros. The junior rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns on the night, bringing his total output to 1,842 yards and 28 touchdowns for the season.
After Saturday’s game, Allen hit yet another milestone — over 5,000 career yards rushed. So far the junior has rushed for 5,171 yards as a Dragon.
While the ground game was the focus, quarterback Kaden Anderson also did well, throwing for 227 yards and a touchdown pass while also rushing in a score. Sophomore wide receiver Jacob Jordan had a big night leading the team with 10 receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown, while senior wide receivers RJ Maryland and Landon Samson caught for a combined eight catches and 74 yards.
The Dragons also shined defensively, giving up just two yards rushing during the game. Individually, senior defensive back Josh Spaeth made an interception while senior defensive lineman Jayke Coberly recorded two sacks. The Dragon defensive unit knocked down eight passes and both caused and recovered a fumble.
With this win, the Dragons now sit at No. 10 in the nation while continuing to be the No. 2 team in the state and Division 6A and No. 1 in Region 1 and Dallas, according to MaxPreps.com.
Now headed to the regional semifinal, Southlake Carroll will take on Lewisville on Saturday, Nov. 27.
