After starting center Frank Ragnow was placed on the reserve/injured list, the Detriot Lions started former Dragon Evan Brown in his place.
“I think I’m just treating it kind of the same as any other week,” Evan says during a media event before his start. “You prepare like you’re going to go into the game. I just know I’m going in, so I’m preparing the exact same way I would in any other situation.”
Though Evan has also played for the New York Giants, the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns, this was his first time starting, taking to the field during the Lions’ Week 5 game against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday.
“It’s a great experience to get this start, but I’m just trying to get out there and keep our cohesion together as a group and keep us moving forward and getting better each week,” Evan says.
As a Dragon, Evan was a three-star ESPN recruit and was named to the Associated Press' 5A First Team All-State Team and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football All-Texas First Team. He graduated from Carroll ISD in 2014 and went on to play for the Southern Methodist University Mustangs, serving as starting center during his junior and senior seasons. Evan was also previously named to Southlake Style’s All-Decade Team in 2020.
