Dragon football sent the state of Texas through a whirlwind of events this week with Obi Eboh's announcement that he was withdrawing his commitment with the Longhorns football program. The announcement came via his Twitter page last weekend.
Less than a week later, Eboh announced on Twitter that he would now further his education and football career at Stanford University.
Texas may have lost Eboh, but gained another Dragon yesterday. In response, Eboh took to Twitter to congratulate a fellow teammate on his commitment to the Longhorns.
"Congrats to my bro @LJ_Humphrey23 on committing to Texas, love you man #HookEm," he wrote.
Humphrey made his announcement on NBC5's Inside High School Sports DFW last night.
"Man this is so crazy I actually can't believe this," he tweeted. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound running back is considered a 3-star recruit. His 2015 numbers, although lower than his career-best junior campaign, afforded him the honor of being named Class 7-6A Offensive Player of the Year.
He was the team's leading rusher with 183 attempts for 1,306 yards. He scored 14 touchdowns, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. In the air, the future Longhorn was targeted on a team-high 57 throws for 876 yards and 8 scores. Humprhey completed one pass for 40 yards, as well. He returned one kickoff for 39 yards.
Wide receiver Zach Farrar made his commitment on Jan. 21, deciding to play both football and baseball at Mississippi State. Also a 3-star recruit, the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder made the district's first team on offense and was named the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week in Class 7-6A in the 38-37, double-overtime thriller win against Coppell this season. In the game, he had 24 receptions for 508 yards and nine TDs.
Farrar finished the football season averaging almost 20 yards per catch, which was a team high. He had 56 receptions for 1,115 yards and 19 touchdowns. In baseball, Farrar bats left handed and plays mostly outfield.
Finally, offensive lineman Lucas Tribble announced Wednesday that he has officially decided on Yale to pursue his post-high-school-football career. Like the aforementioned teammates, Tribble is a 3-star recruit. He comes in at 6-foot-5, 270 pounds and has had success in his wrestling career, as well. Tribble competes in the heavyweight category.
Carroll athletics will hold a National Signing Day Ceremony at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the Student Activity Center at Carroll Sr. High School, for all college commits.
