The Nike Cross Nationals announced on July 16 that it has canceled all remaining 2020 NXN events, including the eight regional qualifiers and the national finals normally held in Portland every December.
“This was not a decision taken lightly, but the health and safety of our athletes, families, fans and employees is our top priority,” the organization says via press release. “ We understand NXN has provided a platform for intense competition, showcased some of the sport’s greatest talent, and gathered a strong community to celebrate their shared love for running. We look forward to bringing NXN back in 2021.”
Nike has hosted this highly competitive meet for the past 16 years for the top two qualifying boys and girls teams from eight regions across the country. Last year 400 runners qualified for this intensive meet, and 14 of them came from Southlake Carroll.
