It was yet another complete effort on both sides of the ball for the Carroll Dragons on Friday night, propelling themselves to the playoffs in a 56-7 victory over L.D. Bell. Feature back Lil'Jordan Humphrey led the Dragons in the scoring effort with 103 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and adding 67 yards in the air on two receptions.
Carroll posted 22 first downs in the contest and gained 604 yards of total offense. The defense held the opponent to just five first downs and 151 yards. The sole score for Bell came at the end of the third quarter.
The Dragons take on Cedar Hill in the opening round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. That will be a home game for Carroll.
Notables
Dragon Pride Player of the Week Alex Simpson took a bulk of the carries in the second half, with 151 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Shemar Coleman added a score for the running game, along with 43 yards. He also caught 3 passes for 71 yards and a score.
Mason Holmes and Montana Murphy split time again with a combined 17 for 23 effort for 295 yards and three touchdowns. Zach Farrar and Blake Berwick were the other Dragon scorers on receptions.
On defense, Jacob Murphy led the way in tackles with 11, followed by Barrett Buck with 10. Grant McFarlin had the team's only sack and added 7 tackles. Obi Eboh had two pass deflections. IV Seacat registered 9 tackles including two for a loss.
