Kinsley Young (14) was named MVP of the Class 6A Division 2 state championship match.
Four members of Carroll’s historic state-title volleyball squad earned spots on the 2025 UIL Class 6A Division 2 All-Tournament Team after the Lady Dragons captured the program’s first state championship on Nov. 22 in Garland.
Seniors Kinsley Young, Layla Austin, Teddy-Raye Ewers and junior Audree Hughes were all selected, joining honorees from Austin High and Katy Tompkins.
Young headlined the group after being named the championship match’s Most Valuable Player. The senior middle blocker delivered 22 kills and played a central role in Carroll’s dramatic 3–2 comeback win over Austin High. She sparked key momentum shifts throughout the match and helped close out the fifth set with steady play at the net.
Austin, one of Carroll’s most reliable six-rotation players, finished the final with 17 kills and 17 digs. Her two-way consistency was a staple of the Dragons’ postseason run and again showed up in critical moments as Carroll rallied from a 2–1 deficit.
Ewers provided veteran poise throughout the tournament. The senior outside hitter was a steady attacking option and helped stabilize the Dragons when Austin High threatened to pull away in the middle sets. Her selection to the All-Tournament Team capped a strong senior season and a key leadership role in Carroll’s title chase.
Hughes, the only non-senior among Carroll’s honorees, delivered one of her best performances of the season on the biggest stage. The junior outside hitter tallied 15 kills in the championship match and consistently produced during the Dragons’ fourth- and fifth-set surge.
