The scoreboard at Moody Coliseum may have signaled the end of a postseason run, but it could not overshadow one of the most dominant basketball seasons in Lady Dragon history.
Carroll, ranked #7 in the state, saw their season come to a close in a 55-46 loss to #19 Frenship in the Class 6A Division II area round. Despite the early exit, the Lady Dragons finish the year with an elite 31-2 overall record and an undefeated 16-0 District Championship.
The matchup in Abilene proved to be a battle of styles. Frenship utilized a stifling 3-2 zone defense and a relentless rebounding effort to disrupt the Dragons’ high-powered offense. The Tigers controlled the glass with a 41-22 rebounding advantage, limiting Carroll’s second-chance opportunities throughout the night.
Trailing 32-21 at the half, Southlake Carroll faced a deficit that swelled as large as 18 points in the second half. However, the Dragons showed the grit that defined their 31-win season, mounting a late 9-0 run to close the gap in the final minutes before ultimately falling short.
Box Score Highlights:
Whitney Jense: 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
Angelina Bouley: 9 points, 4 rebounds
Kamea Christ: 9 points (5-5 FT)
Madison Renda: 6 points, 1 steal
The focus of Dragon Nation now shifts to the boys’ squad as they prepare to open the 2026 postseason. The Men begin their march toward Austin this Tuesday night in a Bi-District clash against Crowley.
