The Lady Dragons basketball team left no doubt who owned district play this season.
Carroll officially clinched the District 4-6A championship with a commanding 73–26 victory over Northwest Eaton, a game that perfectly reflected the Dragons’ identity — relentless defense, depth across the lineup and sustained pressure for four quarters. The win capped an undefeated district run and a slate filled with statement performances, including a 70–22 rout of Keller Central, a 68–37 win over Byron Nelson and a 63–36 victory against L.D. Bell.
The numbers tell the story of just how dominant Carroll has been. The Lady Dragons averaged nearly 60 points per game while holding opponents to around 30. On the glass, Carroll controlled play with roughly 33 rebounds per night while limiting opponents closer to the low 20s, a margin that consistently fueled transition offense and second chances.
That clinching night set the stage for a celebration at home days later, when Carroll was presented the district trophy following another win over L.D. Bell. The moment allowed the Lady Dragons to celebrate in front of their home crowd — a fitting scene for a team that finished district play unbeaten.
Much of Carroll's success starts with junior Whitney Jense, who has been the engine on both ends of the floor. Jense averaged just under 20 points per game while also pulling down around seven rebounds, dishing out nearly four assists and ranking among the team’s leaders in steals and blocks. Her ability to score, defend and create has set the tone throughout the season.
Sophomore Angelina Bouley has provided a reliable scoring punch from the perimeter, averaging around 13 points per game and stretching defenses with consistent three-point shooting. Fellow sophomore Mattie Renda has been a steady presence as well, contributing roughly seven points per game while adding assists and defensive pressure. Senior Payton Lee has anchored the lineup with around six points and six rebounds per night.
The dominance extended beyond league play. Early in the season, Carroll overwhelmed Plano West 84–36, Arlington Bowie 81–29, and Molina 89–9, while also winning defensive battles against Highland Park and Keller. Game after game, the Lady Dragons forced roughly 25 turnovers per contest while committing closer to 10 themselves, a discipline gap that rarely gave opponents room to breathe.
With a 28–1 overall record, an undefeated district title secured and production coming from across the roster, the Lady Dragons now turn their attention to the postseason — confident, connected and very much in championship form.
