The Carroll girls basketball team is off to a scorching start this season and continues to show it's the team to beat in District 4-6A.
The Lady Dragons improved to 4-0 in district play and 18-0 overall with a 35-25 victory over rival Keller last Friday. The win extended Carroll’s defensive dominance, marking the ninth consecutive game in which the Lady Dragons held an opponent to fewer than 30 points.
Sophomore Angelina Bouley led the way against Keller, scoring 17 points while knocking down five of eight attempts from beyond the arc. The performance marked Bouley’s 11th double-figure scoring game of the season and highlighted the balanced offensive attack Carroll has showcased throughout the year.
While Bouley has been a consistent scoring presence, the Lady Dragons have benefited from contributions across the roster. Whitney Jense, Payton Lee and Mattie Renda have all played key roles as Carroll continues to find production from multiple players on any given night.
Defense, however, has been the team’s calling card. Carroll’s ability to limit opponents and control the tempo has fueled its undefeated run and helped separate the Lady Dragons in district play.
The success began early in the season when Carroll swept its opponents at the Rowlett Eagles Nest Invitational, capturing the tournament championship and setting the tone for what has followed.
The Lady Dragons will look to keep their momentum rolling with a slate of upcoming games, including Dec. 30 against Argyle, Jan. 2 versus L.D. Bell, Jan. 6 against Keller Central and Jan. 13 versus Byron Nelson.
With an unblemished record and defense leading the way, Carroll has firmly established itself as a force to watch as the season continues.
