The playoff road began on a strong note for the Carroll Lady Dragons, who swept Mansfield Legacy 3-0 in the Class 6A bi-district round last Thursday night.
Carroll took the match in straight sets — 25-22, 25-11, 25-17 — to advance to the area round. Legacy stayed close early, keeping the opening set competitive before the Lady Dragons settled in and controlled the pace through the final two frames.
The victory was Carroll’s ninth straight, moving their record to 30-5 on the season. Legacy finished its year at 21-17, having dropped three of its last four matches. The meeting marked only the second time the two programs have faced off since 2018, when Carroll also came out on top.
Next up, the Lady Dragons will face El Paso Coronado in the area round on Tuesday, November 4, at 4:30 p.m. The match will take place at Lubbock Cooper High School, with the winner moving on to the regional quarterfinals. Tickets are available online.
