It was quite a weekend for the area's three powerhouse high school baseball squads.
Grapevine, Keller and Southlake Carroll all won its respective area-round matchups in the Class 5A and 6A playoffs, booking tickets to the regional semifinals to be played this weekend.
Grapevine, last year's Class 5A Region 1 state champions, defeated Joshua, 13-4, in Game 3 of the team's best-of-three series.
Keller also emerged victorious in Game 3 of its series against Odessa Permian, winning 8-4.
Carroll shut out Frenship, 5-0, to win the series behind six innings from pitcher Ethan Baiotto, who allowed only one hit. Ashton Ybarra went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.
The Dragons will play Denton Guyer in the regional semifinals on Thursday and Friday, with Game 3 on Saturday if necessary:
