Snapped Dragons / S. Johnson
The Carroll Dragons wasted no time on Friday night in the Class 6A Division II area round, rolling to a 72–7 victory over San Angelo Central at Art Briles Stadium in Stephenville.
Quarterback Angelo Renda led the charge, throwing for 366 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 91 yards. Carroll finished the game with a staggering 710 yards of offense and now advances to face Prosper at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at Choctaw Stadium.
Against Central, the Dragons’ defense allowed its first touchdown since Oct. 17, when Micah Smith connected with Jimmy Edwards in the fourth quarter against Justin Northwest. Other than that brief "lapse," the unit was dominant, shutting down Central’s attack and helping Carroll build a lead that snowballed quickly.

The running game was just as effective. Davis Penn, Luc Jacquemard, Blake Gunter and Gavin Gooden all found the end zone on rushing plays, with Gooden breaking free for a 59-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
