Carroll alumnus and Texas A&M senior Tyler White was named the national Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week on Tuesday following a dominant special teams performance in Week 4.
The Augusta Sports Council honored White after he boomed seven punts for 363 yards against Bowling Green —averaging 51.9 yards per kick—with a long of 58 yards. A career-high six punts of those punts went for more than 50 yards, and three were placed inside the opponent's 20-yard line.
The national accolade builds on a historic season for White. Through four games, he leads the nation with a 50.0-yard punting average across 15 punts for 750 yards. Opponents have struggled to generate anything against him: of his 15 kicks, 10 have traveled 50+ yards, seven have landed inside the 20, and only six have been returned—for a net total of negative 2 yards.
This marks White’s second career Punter of the Week honor, adding to his earlier 2026 "Ray's 8" nod and a 2024 season where he earned Ray Guy Award Semifinalist and SEC All-Freshman accolades.
Long before flipping field position in SEC stadiums, White was a dual-sport star at Southlake Carroll. Under coach Riley Dodge, he set a school record with 154 PATs and scored 205 career points as an All-State kicker and punter. He was also a 4-star football recruit—the first punter/kicker ever awarded 4-star status by 247Sports. Additionally, White helped lead Dragon baseball to the 2022 UIL 6A State Championship, pitching 1.3 scoreless relief innings in the title game to secure the ring.
