
In the first Lone Star Cup update of the year, Southlake Carroll is leading the pack with 49 points, followed closely by Austin Vandegrift with 40 points and Conroe The Woodlands with 38 points.
Given annually by the University Interscholastic League, schools in each classification earn points based on its athletics teams’ performances in district and state championships. The winning school in each classification receives the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.
This first update includes the season results for team tennis, cross-country, marching band, military marching band, volleyball, BEST robotics, football, congress and spirit. The next update will be released on March 18 and will include swimming, diving, wrestling, film, mariachi and basketball.
Last year, Carroll came in second place in the competition for the Lone Star Cup with 99 points, following behind Conroe The Woodlands' 111 points.
