After Southlake Carroll's remarkable run to the Class 6A Division 2 football championship game, multiple individuals received accolades for their contributions to a Dragon team that came one win short of a state title.
One such player was junior quarterback Angelo Renda, who in addition to his District 4-6A Most Valuable Player award picked up several college offers and has committed early.
The three-star recruit officially committed to the University of Pittsburgh, posting his decision on X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 22:
Renda was a dual-threat nightmare for defenses in 2024-25, passing for 3,901 yards, 40 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while also rushing for 667 yards and 14 touchdowns. With Renda at the helm, the Dragons went 15-1, losing only to Austin Vandegrift in the 6A championship game. In the final game, Renda completed 27-of-38 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns
Recruiting outlet 247sports has Renda listed as the no. 72 quarterback in the country and 113th overall in Texas.
