Southlake Carroll's roster was loaded in 2016. Bringing backbrplenty of firepower from last year's team that went to the 6A Regional Finals,brCoach Matt Colvin's Lady Dragons had no issue getting production from anbrexperienced group of athletes. Texas A&M commit Ally Griffin had a stellarbrjunior campaign leading the team with 49 goals and 109 points, the star forwardbrearned district 7-6A forward MVP honors. brForward Allie Luna received 7-6A district MVP for an impressive seniorbrseason. The Kansas State commit led the team in assists (30), while finishingbrthird on the team in goals (15). Southlake Carroll's stingy defense was thebrbest in the state and played a huge part in their success. Thanks in part tobrfreshman goalie Madison Martin's 0.55 goals allowed per game, the Dragonsbroutscored the opposition 143-15. With so many positives to take from thisbrseason, the future in Dragon Land looks mighty bright. Losing 13 seniors frombrthis year's team, Southlake Carroll will surely reload as they look forward tobrnext season. With a few key contributors back in the fold for the Dragons, thebrfuture continues to look bright.

The Dragons entered the 2016 season with sky-highbrexpectations. Named as the No. 1 high school girl's soccer team in the countrybrby USA Today’s preseason rankings, SouthlakebrCarroll lived up to much of the hype going undefeated in a very competitive 7-6Abrdistrict. The Dragons faced some of their toughest tests before the postseasonbreven began. Beating nationally ranked Coppell twice and out-of-statebrpowerhouses Monteverde Academy (Florida) and Santa Margarita (California), scoringbrwasn’t an issue for the Lady Dragons in 2016 as they averaged a whopping 5.64brgoals per game. After opening the postseason with a 10-0 victory against SouthbrGrand Prairie, Southlake Carroll saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion.brLosing in penalty kicks to Flower Mound Marcus in the Region 1 Area round ofbrthe playoffs, Carroll suffered only its second loss of the season. “We had anbramazing season and we really stuck together to build on last year’s success,” saysbrHead Coach Matt Colvin. “We will be back next year and are looking forward tobrmaking strides in the off-season.”
