The two-time state champion Southlake Carroll baseball team persevered against tough teams and, while losing their first five games, ended the High School Baseball Showcase with a win.
The first team the Dragons took on in the showcase was nationally ranked IMG Academy. The Florida-based high school team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by PerfectGame.org. While Southlake Carroll lost 0-11, they were able to record six hits.
Next on the schedule, the Dragons took on Flower Mound, putting up a good fight before falling 5-8. The Dragons also fell to Marcus — who beat IMG Academy 6-5 — in a 1-5 game.
But it’s the last two games that proved most successful for the Dragons. After nearly winning against Heath in a 2-3 game, the Dragons pulled out a 7-2 win against Prosper — who is ranked No. 21 in the nation, according to PerfectGame.org.
Next up for the Dragon baseball team are games against Forney, Rockwall Heath and Wylie. For the full baseball schedule, visit DragonSportsNetwork.com.
