In an impressive showing at the district meet, the Dragon Tennis teams won the district championship and qualified 13 athletes for the regional competition.
"I’m extremely proud of them," head coach Corey Aldridge says. "The kids work as hard as any program we have here at Carroll and am thankful the results are paying off."
Individually, Colin Scruggs earned first place in boys singles while Sydney Minotti earned first place in girls singles. Nithya Kalluri followed closely behind, earning second in girls singles.
Brennan Becicka and Bella Andrade took the top spot in girls doubles, while Maddy Clark and Caroline Schneider followed behind in second place. In boys doubles, Avi Kumar and Aidan Twamley earned first place while Nash Kakarala and Ishaan Warrier earned second place. Ty Carnahan and Isa Bass came second in mixed doubles.
Now these Dragons will head to regionals, which are set to take place on April 12-13 in Arlington.
"We always prepare to play the best," coach Aldridge says. "We are lucky to have a varsity team who can all push one another in practice. We use the saying 'iron sharpens iron' almost every day, stressing the importance of working hard for yourself and your teammates."
