The Southlake Carroll Target Team traveled to San Antonio last week to compete at the National Junior Clay Target Championships. The team not only won third place overall at the competition but also one of its shooters became the international skeet shooting champion as well.
Competing across eight events, the Dragons dominated throughout the competition, with its shooters consistently placing in the top 10 of every category. In the HOA individual contest, Lizzie Garcia placed fifth in the senior varsity category with a score of 330, while Nate Hagy placed 10th with a score of 351. In American trap, Alex Koning placed third with a 98 shoot-off win, while Connor Daily tied for fourth with a score of 89 in sporting clays. Lizzie further won first place in the double skeet category while Nate took second in super sporting clays. Finally, Braeden Patterson finished ninth in the international trap category with a score of 26.
Southlake Carroll’s combined score led to not only a third-place finish overall for the team but also Lzzie placed first in the senior ladies division and the national championship overall. Congratulations, Dragons!
