Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels settled on a home here in Southlake on Jan. 22, according to reports by the Dallas News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The 32-year-old ace, also known for his charity work, has officially begun settling his roots in Texas, looking toward a full season with the now playoff-caliber club. NBC DFW reported he's already "helped teammate Prince Fielder and Highland Park native Clayton Kershaw break ground on a new youth academy in West Dallas as part of an initiative by the Texas Rangers Foundation."
His home in Newtown Square, Pa. was sold shortly before he was traded in July.
He finished his season with the Rangers in 12 starts (1 complete game) and 83.2 innings pitched. Hamels allowed 77 hits, 35 runs (34 earned) and 10 home runs. He walked 23 batters, striking out 78. His record was 7-1, with an earned run average of 3.66.
