The season hasn't even started yet, and the Carroll Dragons are already on top! Southlake Carroll currently ranks No. 1 in the state, according to TexasHighSchoolBaseball.com.
After winning their second consecutive state championship last year, the Dragons look to do it again this year. Nine starters from last year's championship team are returning this season, including Yanluis Ortiz, a senior catcher and center fielder with a .317 batting average and 28 RBIs, and Cade Manning, a senior third baseman with a .432 batting average and 28 RBIs, according to TexasHighSchoolBaseball.com.
The baseball season is set to start in early February with the varsity team's first game on Feb. 8 against Martin High School.
