For Tyler Alexander, his first season with the Texas Rangers turned into a career year — and another chapter in a baseball journey that began at Southlake Carroll.
The 2014 Carroll graduate wrapped up the 2026 regular season with 75 appearances, setting a new career high and blowing past his previous mark of 52 appearances, set in 2025 when he split the season between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox.
Alexander finished the season 5-2 with a 3.70 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 73 innings, while recording four saves. His 75 appearances ranked among the Rangers’ busiest workloads and represented a significant increase from his previous career high.
The left-hander was especially busy in the second half, making 33 appearances after the All-Star break. He closed the regular season with two appearances against Minnesota on Sept. 26 and 27, finishing his season with a 3.70 ERA.
For Alexander, though, 2026 was about more than numbers. It was his return to North Texas after years spent building a Major League career far from home.
Alexander starred at Southlake Carroll, going 12-1 with a 0.66 ERA and 177 strikeouts in 94⅔ innings as a senior. He went on to play at TCU before the Detroit Tigers selected him in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
After beginning his big-league career with Detroit, Alexander pitched for Tampa Bay, Milwaukee and Chicago before signing with the Rangers for the 2026 season. The move brought him back to the area where his baseball career began — and gave local fans a chance to watch a former Dragon take the mound at Globe Life Field.
