Boswell tops Lady Dragons, 57-26, in bi-district playoff round
It was another banner season for the Carroll Lady Dragons basketball team -- regardless of how it ended.
The Lady Dragons were dispatched from the Class 6A Division 2 playoffs Monday at the hands of Fort Worth Boswell, the no. 2 ranked team in the state per the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Camille Williams, Boswell's four-star recruit, led the way with 17 points.
For Carroll, Whitney Jense led the team with 12 points. Katah Gunter scored six, Payton Lee scored three, Jillian Hall scored two and senior Audrey Hendrickson, playing her final game as a Lady Dragon, added one.
Playoff loss aside, Carroll ended the season with a record of 22-10, and a 13-3 record in district play. It won eight of 10 games at home and nine of 12 games on the road. Before Monday's loss, the team had won seven in a row.
Carroll boys regular season ends Tuesday, playoffs up next
The boys basketball team will travel to Euless Trinity for its final regular season game of the season tonight, in search of its 22nd victory of 2024-25. Regardless of who wins, Carroll will be competing in the Class 6A playoffs after clinching a berth last week in a 69-45 win over Byron Nelson.
The Dragon's playoff information has yet to be released.
It was another 20-win season for the Dragons under head coach David Markley, who won his 200th game as a head coach earlier this season.
"When you accomplish something like that, you think back to all the people that helped make it possible," Markley said.
