For the fifth consecutive year, all four Dragon Cross Countrybrteams placed first in the 7-6A district meet, giving the boys and girls Varsitybrteams a spot in the regional meet in Lubbock on October 26.
The Carroll Varsity and JVbrteams dominated the field at district, with three of the four teams obtaining abrperfect score of 15.
“We are so proud of the waybrour teams performed today at the district meet. Their hard work and dedicationbrpaid off and it was fun to watch them compete at a high level,” SouthlakebrCarroll Head Coach Justin Leonard said in a press release. “Our JV teams reallybrshowed their depth today and we're excited about the future if they continue tobrwork hard and do the little things like the others before them have done. Our Varsitybrteams ran well and now it's time to gear up and complete the mission.”
The Varsity Lady Dragonsbrtook the top seven spots and scored a perfect 15. Senior Antigone Archerbrfinished first with a time of 18:43.5. Next crossing the line simultaneouslybrwere Gillian Mortimer 18:43.6 and Alison Esparza 18:43.6. Sarah Odneal took fourthbrwith 18:55 and Cate Tracht finished the scoring positions, coming in fifth atbr18:59. Kayli Jones and Ari Lopez also competed for the Lady Dragon team,brfinishing sixth and seventh respectively.
The Varsity Boy Dragons alsobrdominated their race with our top five runners placing in the top 10. JuniorbrReed Brown led the boys team and took second place with a time of 15:31. MichaelbrWaugh took third place running a 16:03, Shea Whatley came in fourth with 16:07,brTimou Toure came in seventh with a time of 16:11 and Charlie Gardner finishedbrout the scoring positions in eighth place running 16:12. Michael Simcho andbrNicholas Fernandes also competed, taking the 10th and 12thbrplaces respectively.
JV Dragons Reign Supreme
The JV Dragon boys showedbrhow deep their talent goes by taking 17 of the top 20 spots and nine of the topbr10 places. Perfect scoring their race, the JV boys were led by Juan Arcilabrtaking first place, Chase Haddock second, Connor Rutledge third, JacksonbrFelkins fourth and Enzo Mortimer placed fifth to finish out the scoring positions.brSam Kemps (6th), Evan Dunkel (7th), David Archer (8th)brand Tyler Coleman (10th) completed the top 10 spots.
The JV Lady Dragons alsobrscored a perfect 15 and had 17 of the top 20 spots and nine out of the top 10.brOlivia Arriaza took the first place spot, Lauren Esparza second, Sarah McCabe third,brReagan Reilley fourth and Ali White took fifth, rounding out the scoringbrpositions. Izzy Dominguez (6th), Amy Riera (7th), AngiebrRiera (8th) and Gabi Bigalke (9th) completed the top ninebrspots.
The Southlake Carroll CrossbrCountry varsity teams will compete on October 26 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbockbrin the highly competitive regional meet.
