Southlake Carroll CrossbrCountry, a nationally recognized championship team,bris off to a winning start once again. The Dragons took top honors at the 32ndbrGreenhill Six Mile Relay on Saturday. The relay has been a mainstay on thebrTexas high school Cross Country schedule for years and kicks off the Cross Countrybrseason for many local and regional teams.
The Carroll Boys ElitebrVarsity A team set a new course record by .25 seconds and took first place withbrJuan Arcila, Nicholas Fernandes, Enzo Mortimer and Connor Rutledge with a relaybrtime of 29.03.
The Carroll Girls ElitebrVarsity A team, the returning champion, took first place again with CatebrTracht, Ali White, Ari Lopez and Gillian Mortimer running the relay in 34.36. Carroll'sbrVarsity Girls Elite B team took fourth place with Angela Riera, ChristinabrCanal, Lauren Esparza and Sarah McCabe clocking a time of 36:05.
Southlake Carroll CrossbrCountry had 35 teams participate in the Greenhill Six Mile Cross Country Relay.
“Our teams performed wellbrtoday in their first meet of the season,” said Justin Leonard, head coach. “ThebrGreenhill Relay is a great ‘rust buster' for our kids. We're really proud ofbrall of our teams, but the thing that was evident to us was the level ofbrcompetitiveness that each runner brought. They were definitely excited to racebrdifferent opponents other than their teammates.”
Next week, the CarrollbrCross Country team travels to Denton for the Marcus I Invitational.
