Dragon Swim & Dive athletes had a big weekend, with both the boys and girls teams bringing home the district championship and qualifying for regionals.
Hailey Hernandez finished first in the competition and was named District 5-6A Girl of the Meet. On the boys side, diver Jackson Miller was first and was named the District 5-6A Boy of the Meet. Five divers in total qualified for the UIL Regional Meet, set to take place in two weeks.
The swim team also had a great showing, with the boys team placing first in the 200-meter medley, the 200-meters free and the 400-meter relay, according to MySouthlakeNews.com. The girls team also won its 200-meter and 400-meter relays.
In total, the girls swim team won five out of nine individual events, and the boys won eight out of nine individual events.
The athletes who qualified for the UIL Regional Meet will now train until the meet takes place in two weeks at the Lewisville Westside Aquatic Center. Dragons who advance at the regional meet will go one to compete at the UIL State Championships set for late February.
