It was quite the weekend in the pool for the Southlake Carroll swim and dive teams.
The Lady Dragons took home first place at the Region 1-6A championships last week, topping cross-town rival Keller by 42 points. Carroll scored 454 points as a team.
The Lady Dragons were represented on the medal stand by a slew of swimmers. Marin Clem finished in first place in the 100 meter freestyle race with a time of 49.66 and in second place in the 50 meter freestyle race with a time of 23.15; Olivia Colombo and Taryn Plows placed first and second, respectively, in the 100 meter backstroke with times of 55.54 and 56.97; and Melina Michaeledes took home first place in one-meter diving with a score of 467.25.
The Lady Dragons were especially dominant in one-meter diving, with the top three finishers all from Carroll: Michaeleds, Gabriella Ybarra and Bella Sanouvong finished first, second and third, respectively.
On the boys side, only Keller scored better than the Dragons in overall team standings, besting Carroll by 125 points. Carroll outscored the third place team, El Paso Coronado, 325-258.
Individually for the Carroll boys, William Zhang finished in third place for Carroll in the 100 meter backstroke, Jack Ma took third place in one-meter diving with a total score of 478.95 and Jackson Hernandez finished in third place in the 50 meter freestyle.
The Dragons finished in third place in the 200 meter freestyle, 200 meter medley and 400 meter freestyle relays.
