The Carroll Senior High School student activity center was packed with parents, coaches, friends, family members and students on Wednesday morning as 23 Carroll athletes signed letters of intent for National Signing Day.
CISD Athletic Director Steve Keasler opened the ceremony by thanking the parents and their kids for all of their hard work, as well as the coaches that pushed their athletes to the peak of their ability.
“I can go on and on about how much dedication [these coaches] have not just for our student-athletes, but for many of them that are walking the halls,” Keasler remarks.
Keasler commended the signees’ mentality that brought them up to this point. He remarked that they weren’t just outstanding athletes, but also outstanding students.
“Once a Dragon, always a Dragon,” Keasler says. “It’ll always be a part of who you are. Don’t forget where you came from.”
Afterward, Carroll Senior High Principal Shawn Duhon commended the student-athletes, saying this was a day to celebrate their accomplishments and their future.
“I want to thank all 23 [student athletes] for everything you do for Carroll Senior High School, how you represent us not only on the court and field but also in the classroom,” Shawn expresses. “I know they’re going to go on to do great things.”
After opening remarks, the 23 students came up to the signing table to write their signatures on their letters of intent, surrounded by their parents and close family members. Congratulations to these student-athletes!
