Southlake Carroll was one win away from the 6A Division 2 football state championship in 2025. Two returning 2026 seniors will hope to push the Dragons over the finish line.
"The Dallas Morning News" released a list of the top 50 area high school football players that will graduate in 2026, and those two seniors, Brock Boyd and Davis Penn, were ranked in the top 25.
Boyd, a TCU commit, was ranked as the 17th-best 2026 graduate. The wide receiver had 111 receptions for 1,875 yards and scored 20 touchdowns as a junior. In the state championship game, Boyd caught 13 passes -- the second most receptions in 6A title game history -- for 178 yards and a score.
Davis, who has offers from Wisconsin, Arizona State and Baylor, finished his junior season with 1,040 all-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns despite missing several games -- including the state championship game -- with injuries.
Led by Boyd, Penn and returning senior quarterback Angelo Renda led a Carroll offense that scored the third-most points per game (49.8) and gained the seventh-most yards per game (456.7) among area 6A teams.
