Five Carroll Senior High School student-athletes will compete at the 2026 UIL State Track & Field Meet on Saturday, May 16, at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin.
Representing the Dragons on the state’s biggest stage are Chloe Franks in the triple jump, Luna Gutierrez in the 3200-meter run, Grace McIlvain in the 800-meter run, Caden Leonard in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, and Claudio Auns in the 800-meter run.
The Class 6A competition begins Saturday morning with field events and the 3200-meter finals at 9 a.m., followed by running event finals beginning at 5 p.m.
Carroll enters the weekend with one of the area’s strongest distance contingents. Leonard will compete in two grueling distance races after an impressive postseason run that included a state-record time at regionals in the 3200, while Gutierrez also earned a coveted state berth in the 3200-meter event. McIlvain (who also set a state record at regionals) and Auns will each line up in the highly competitive 800-meter finals, an event known for dramatic finishes and elite statewide talent.
In the field events, Franks will represent the Dragons in the triple jump after soaring through regional competition to punch her ticket to Austin.
