Here Comes the Boom - Starring Kevin James (King of the Hill)
for the weekend of October 12, 2012
Looking for a good-hearted laugh at the movies this weekend? Check out the hilarious Kevin James (King of Queens) starring in Here Comes the Boom. James plays Scott Voss, a disinterested biology teacher in a struggling high school.
Flashback ten years when Voss was a stellar, award-winning teacher dedicated to his craft; unfortunately, over the years, his enthusiasm has waned and his lack of inspiration spills over to his students, leaving them unmotivated to go above and beyond.
When Voss's school is threatened with cutbacks that will kill every extracurricular program, including the music program that his good friend Marty (played by Henry Winkler) teaches, Voss decides to take action in raising the funds needed to keep the extracurricular programs by teaching a citizenship class. Through a student he discovers that an Ultimate Cage Fighting (UCF) participant can earn a lot of dough, even if they lose the fight.
Voss then agrees to receive UFC lessons in exchange for American history lessons from one of his citizenship students, Niko (played by former UFC champion Bas Rutten), who just so happens to be a one-time successful cage fighter that had to quit due to a serious injury.
Selma Hayek also stars in this inspirational comedy as school nurse, Bella, and Voss's potential love interest- at least if he had it his way.
This feel-good comedy follows Voss's journey through struggling with his first MMA fight to actually holding his own in the ring, becoming a hero to the kids at his school.
Be sure to grab a bag of popcorn and a drink to enjoy while watching this inspiring film about a teacher and his struggle with the school system and how his selfless acts lead to a revitalization of his school.
Also premiering at the theaters this week is the much-anticipated Argo. This film stars Ben Affleck as a CIA operative who goes undercover in Tehran as a Hollywood film producer in order to rescue a group of American diplomats taking refuge at the Canadian embassy at the height of the Iranian Evolution. Parents who want to see this film should take advantage of Harkins’ PlayCenter, where kids ages 3-8 can be entertained for $6 per child for the duration of the film.
Harkins Southlake 14 is also planning for Twi-mania this November, with a marathon of all previous Twilight films leading into the premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2, the final installment of the vampire-saga. Tickets are $30 and include concessions! These marathons tend to sell out quickly, so get on it!
