Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs Smetana’s “The Moldau,” Korngold’s Violin Concerto, and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 at Bass Performance Hall.
Czech composer Dvořák infused his famous Symphony No. 8 with the melodies and rhythms of his people, building a mighty work from humble folk tunes. Popular conductor Anna Skryleva returns to Fort Worth for this performance, which also features the Violin Concerto by Erich Korngold, a composer famous for his film music to swashbucklers like Robin Hood and The Seahawk.
The program opens with another Czech favorite, Bedřich Smetana’s mighty “Vltava (The Moldau),” an evocative tone poem about a river that passes through the countryside.
