In May, we featured Gigi Butler, the brains and talent behind Gigi’s Cupcakes, the largest cupcake franchise in the country. Now, the renowned bakery will be hosting a grand opening event at its Southlake location on July 9. This is the eatery’s third location in the Metroplex, and by the looks of it, founder Gigi Butler has no plans on slowing down.
Butler, who was featured on the CBS hit television show Undercover Boss in 2015, will be on hand for the event to meet residents during the celebration. The all-day celebration begins at 10 a.m. with “Free Cupcakes for a Year” cards given to the first 50 customers. The grand opening event will also include hourly giveaways with prizes from local restaurants, spas and retail stores such as Kendra Scott jewelry and an appearance by Gigi herself from 1 to 3 p.m.
During the celebration, Gigi's Cupcakes of Southlake will offer a one-of-a-kind Team Bailey Cupcake designed by Bailey Koewing, a local customer and Leukemia survivor. At age four, Bailey was diagnosed with Leukemia and after two years of treatments, Team Bailey was formed to join the battle to end cancer. Every year, Team Bailey raises money for the Relay for Life Walk to raise awareness about cancer research.
After Gigi's Cupcakes of Southlake opened, Bailey and her family began to visit frequently. Once the Gigi's staff heard her touching story, they embraced Bailey's mission to raise funds and awareness. Proceeds from each Team Bailey Cupcake sold will go toward Bailey's fundraising goal of $5,000 for the Relay for Life Walk on July 23. Bailey and her team will be in store during the celebration on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share her inspiring story and visit with patrons about the importance of cancer research.
Gigi's Cupcakes of Southlake is also a proud sponsor of the Carroll Independent School District. The Carroll High School Dragon Cheerleaders and the Emerald Belles Drill Team will both be on hand for the celebration. On Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m., patrons will enjoy face painting from the cheerleaders and then from 5 to 7 p.m., the Emerald Belles Drill Team will conclude the day as they lead patrons in school cheers. Gigi's Cupcakes of Southlake will donate $1 per transaction throughout the celebration to the Carroll Independent School District.
“We are thrilled to bring the best gourmet products and the Gigi's Cupcakes experience to the residents of Southlake,” said Cam Harrington with Gigi's Cupcakes of Southlake. “We have a passion for giving back to the community and we could not be more excited to share love and joy one cupcake at a time.”
Gigi's customers across the country have come to love and expect the unique “Wow” factor of the bakery's cake inspired treats. Customers of Gigi's Cupcakes will be enticed by the gourmet offerings, but they will be pleasantly surprised at what else they will find. Breads, cheesecakes and stuffed cookies are offered daily and full-sized cakes will be available by custom order.
Unlike any other, Gigi's Cupcakes is known for their incredible variety of gourmet cupcakes with icing piled high and exquisite decorations. Best known for its signature "Gigi's swirl," the bakery offers a variety of gourmet desserts, including 300 rotating cupcake flavors with sugar-free and gluten-free options, mini cupcakes, custom cakes, cheesecakes and stuffed cookies. Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy flavors such as Scarlett's Red Velvet, Chocolate Turtle, Wedding Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Kentucky Bourbon Pie, Chocolate Torte, Midnight Magic, White Midnight Magic and more.
