Boasting both longtime restaurants and new eateries, Keller provides plenty of date night potential. All that’s left is to decide which independently owned establishment to stop by first. These three restaurants, which could each make for their own extraordinary night out, bring something fresh to the area’s dining scene. So with a few tips and menu recommendations, we hope you make the trip down FM 1709 and see why they're worth the hype.
Start out in the heart of Keller’s Town Center at FnG Eats. By sourcing produce at its peak from local farmers and vendors, guests can expect to taste the restaurant’s freshness in each bite — or sip. FnG’s bar garden cocktails combine classic flavors with bright ingredients, creating a refreshing start to any date night. Whether you want to try out the delicious sting of the Killer Bee, made with Mi Campo Reposado Tequila, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, lemon juice, Chef Bob’s chile orange honey and served in a jalapeno-rimmed martini glass, or see if they are telling the truth by offering the Best Damn Old Fashioned, a combination of Old Forester Cherry Vanilla Infused Bourbon, Jack Daniel’s Rye, angostura and rhubarb bitters and amarena cherry, there’s plenty to cheers to after looking over the menu.
Newer to the Keller dining community and located less than four minutes from FnG Eats, Horizon 76 offers a new take on American dining. Owners Chris and Jennifer Polk teamed up with managing partner Jeff Lowery to create a grill house known for its quality ingredients and Americana interior. With a widespread menu featuring burgers, fried chicken pot pie, steaks and more, guests are sure to find a comfort food favorite on the menu. They will also see local vendors' names like Shannon Brewing Company and Z Bar Cattle Company, ensuring the restaurant has a true Keller stamp. Want something you won’t be able to find anywhere else in town? Give the bone-in burger a try. Made with blended ground beef, wood-fired with a bone for a unique flavor and served with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, this will be one dinner you won’t be able to forget.
If you’re hankering for a sweet before heading back into town, swing by Boca 31. The Latin street food stop opened in Keller in 2018 after building quite a reputation for itself thanks to its Denton location. Now it serves up quality tacos, rice bowls and sandwiches to hungry customers. But it also offers fresh sweets that keep guests coming back time and time again. The mini guava and cream cheese empanada oozes fresh goodness while the mini Nutella and marshmallow empanada is a fan favorite for sweet enthusiasts. Fresher options are available, like their popsicle of the day. Whether you take your treat to go or stick around long enough to enjoy a glass of its housemade sangria, you’re sure to come back for more after finding this delicious dining gem.
