The summer heat is real, so by the time July rolls around, locals are on the hunt for a hint of relief. So it makes sense why one of the hottest months of the year and ice cream go hand in hand. If you are looking for a new treat to try during National Ice Cream Month, here are seven local options.
Creamistry
At Creamistry, cold ice cream takes on a whole new meaning. By using liquid nitrogen, their trained Creamologists can create made-to-order masterpieces in an array of flavors. Just pick your base, featured ingredients and toppings, and watch as the dessert comes together. Whether your final result comes as a shake or a sundae, it’s sure to be delicious.
Andy’s Frozen Custard
After tasting your first spoonful of an Andy’s Frozen Custard concrete, you’ll see what all the buzz is about. These blended frozen desserts offer richness and creaminess that make them stand out in the ice cream scene. Guests can choose to order a shake, malt, sundae or even a banana split. A trip to Andy’s makes for a great outing the whole family can get excited for.
Muggle Shakes
For a shake that will make you do a double take, head over to Colleyville’s new Muggle Shakes. The dessert stop creates over-the-top, yogurt-based shakes that come loaded with lively toppings. Guests can choose from their classic menu or try seasonal treats like the vegan Watermelon Spritzer. To try an array of their flavors, order up the sampler to share as a family. You will get all the pizazz of the bigger shakes, with just a portion of the brain freeze.
Milwaukee Joe’s Ice Cream
Located in Southlake Town Square, Milwaukee Joe’s is one of this town’s favorite summertime destinations. Their stacked scoops come in flavors like Dr. Pepper, Black Raspberry Truffle and Banana Pudding, so there’s always something new to try. And Southlake Town Square is the perfect backdrop for walking around and enjoying every last lick.
Yogurtland

With featured flavors like Dairy-free Key Lime Pie and Salted Caramel Pecan, there’s bound to be a base that will excite your sweet tooth. And, be sure to drop by on National Ice Cream Day on July 21 from 1 to 6 p.m. for their buy-one, get-one deal!
The Ice Cream Place
Get those classic ice cream parlor vibes by venturing over to Southlake’s own The Ice Cream Place. The shop moved into a new location earlier this year, but they are back to offering all your favorite flavors. On top of their scoops, The Ice Cream Place also serves freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, so you can build your own sandwich to enjoy in their shop.
Kilwins
When you first walk into the candy store, ice cream might not be the first sweet that comes to mind. But make your way to the back of Grapevine’s Kilwins and you are sure to find creamy scoops that will make your day a little brighter. Kilwins offers more than 40 unique flavors that can be finished with handmade fudge and caramel toppings. And served in a fresh-made waffle cone, this sweet is one that is sure to become a family favorite.
