August is here, and for Texas foodies, that can only mean one thing: Hatch Chile Fest is back at Central Market. Now in its 30th year, this beloved celebration brings the bold, smoky flavor of Hatch Valley green chiles to just about everything — and we’re here for it.
Grown exclusively in the sun-soaked Hatch Valley of New Mexico, these seasonal peppers range from mild to fiery and pack a depth of flavor that’s become a cult favorite. Central Market’s shelves are once again bursting with hatch-spiked specialties — and this year’s lineup brings back all of your favorite "Hall of Flame" favorites from years past.
Alongside fan-favorites like hatch sliders, hatch green chile queso, hatch tamales and hatch chile and sweet lime sandwich cookies, look out for limited-time treats like hatch apple turnovers, Cheeza Pleeza Hatch Green Chile Spread and Goodles Protein Down The Hatch Chile Popper Mac N Cheese. Spice up the grill with the Roasted Hatch Bacon & Cheddar Seasoned Beef Chuck Burger. Then, wash it down with a tall glass of hatch lemonade or a margarita made from their cold-pressed hatch margarita mix, and you've got yourself a perfectly spicy evening.
