August is here, and Texas foodies know the drill: it's time to prepare for this year's Hatch Chile Fest at Central Market.
This year’s festival runs Aug. 5–18 with the theme “Hit The Hatch Jackpot,” inviting shoppers to bet on green with two weeks of smoky, spicy, only-here-for-a-minute flavor. Grown in New Mexico’s Hatch Valley, these seasonal peppers are famous for their earthy sweetness, signature heat, and cult following — and Central Market knows exactly how to celebrate them.
The shelves are once again stocked with Hatch-spiked favorites and limited-time finds, from the always-beloved Hatch Pepper Tortillas to more than 100 chef-prepared dishes, specialty products, and fiery surprises. This year’s lineup includes Hatch Butter Chicken, Hatch Flatbread with Hatch rajas con crema, Hatch chicken meatballs, and melted cheeses, plus Tequila Hatch Marinated Chicken, Pork, and Beef ready for the grill.
Seafood lovers can dig into Hatch-stuffed Crab and Hatch Lobster Mac and Cheese, while snackers can stock up on Mrs. Peter’s Hatch Chili Blue Crab Dip, Roasted Hatch Pepper Monterey Jack Fougasse, Hatch Blue Corn Tortilla Cookies, spicy Hatch Margarita Mixers, and Big Spoon Roasters Hatch Hot Honey Peanut Butter.
