Grapevine’s local brewery Hop & Sting has an extensive line of charity beers, each benefiting local organizations. With Fire Engine Red, which supports local firefighters, Miracle Wheat, which benefits Miracle League, and Dixon’s Series, which benefits Dallas Pets Alive, it’s safe to say the brewery has a dedication to giving back. But now there’s a new craft brew on the lineup. Hop & Sting just added the Sir Williams English Brown Ale to its charity beer lineup.
The Sir Williams is not a new creation. Rather, it’s a core beer from Grapevine Craft Brewery and received the 2014 gold and 2016 silver medals at the Great American Beer Festival. After Hop & Sting acquired the Grapevine Craft Brewery in 2018, it took ownership over its brands, including this brown ale.
“Before starting Hop & Sting, Jon Powell and I were part of the team that brewed the gold medal-winning batch. Sir Williams is a wonderful beer and we wanted to keep it in our lineup. It is a natural fit for our NTX Strong lineup. It is still the same great recipe that we all loved,” co-founder and brewer Brian Burton says via press release.
The Sir Williams will benefit local law enforcement and first responders by donating a portion of its proceeds to Texas Police Benevolent Funds.
“Our first responders and their families serve our communities. It is a small token of our immense appreciation to dedicate another beer to give back to those heroes,” Powell says via press release.
According to the brewery’s press release, Hop & Sting donates $0.50 of every pint, and $1 of every six-pack sold in the taproom, plus 5% of offsite sales of these featured beers, to its associated group. In their first year since acquiring the facility in Grapevine in 2018, Hop & Sting gave over 1% of their overall revenue to charity, according to its press release.

The Miracle Wheat is the only current beer available in cans, with plans for the other charity beers to be rolled out in the upcoming months. But to try out all these brews, head over to the Grapevine location.
