A new poke restaurant is coming to Southlake next month to deliver fresh and healthy bites to the area.
Founded in 2015 by Michael Wu and Peter Yang, Pokeworks is a poke restaurant franchise with more than 60 locations across the United States. Drawn into the customizable aspect of the menu, Southlake owner Jean Xue says she was first introduced to poke through her teenage daughter.
“As a former Carroll cross country elite varsity runner, she was on a very healthy diet in order to fuel her body for daily practice and big races,” Jean says. “The first time I tried building my own poke bowl, I loved it and thought it would be awesome to have poke here in Southlake.”
The concept lets customers build their own poke entree through six simple steps. First customers choose a base like a bowl, burrito or salad, then they pick a protein such as tuna, salmon, chicken or shrimp. After that, they add mix-ins, toppings and sauces, followed by crisps such as garlic, onions or wontons.
After meeting with the corporate management team and exploring its viability in the area, Jean says she’s excited to introduce Southlake to Pokeworks’ healthy yet flavorful cuisine.
“We are thrilled to join their effort of growing this brand, especially in the DFW area,” she says. “I am confident that diners in the area will be attracted to this new concept.”
The new Pokeworks restaurant is expected to open in June at 2801 E. Southlake Blvd. To learn more about the franchise, visit Pokeworks.com.
