Two years after bringing its first Texas location to Colleyville, New York Butcher Shoppe is heading west — and this time, Southlake customers won’t have to make the drive for their steaks.
Owner Ruth Nokes opens her second Texas location Sept. 26 at 2001 W. Southlake Blvd. - just next door to Rise Soufflé, bringing the same hand-cut Certified Angus Beef, prepared meals, specialty sides and wine selection that helped build a loyal following at the Colleyville shop.
“We opened in Colleyville and within about a month we could tell you which of our regulars were driving in from Southlake,” Nokes says. “Southlake told us to come. We’re coming.”
At the butcher counter, customers can order steaks, roasts and tenderloins cut to specification, along with house-made sausage, dry-aged steaks, lamb, veal, poultry and seafood.
But the shop’s following isn’t built on steak alone.
New York Butcher Shoppe also serves a rotating hot dinner six days a week, with offerings like roast chicken, chicken pot pie, slow-cooked pot roast, Friday prime rib and Saturday ribs. Prepared sides, specialty cheeses, gourmet pantry goods and wine round out the market.
“The steak is what people come in for the first time,” Nokes says. “The Wednesday pot roast is why they come back.”
Saturday’s grand opening runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a little extra incentive to arrive early: the first 50 guests will receive a free New York strip steak and a “Founding Fifty” card with perks including first access to holiday roasts and a free birthday steak.
The day will also include live-fire cooking demonstrations from Chef Dallas Souder, a prize wheel, an 11 a.m. Southlake Chamber ribbon cutting and a “Feed the Fam” drawing for a month of free prepared meals.
New York Butcher Shoppe Southlake will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
