Since opening in late 2023, The Spelled Milk has become a must-visit destination for cereal lovers and nostalgic snackers alike. Located in the heart of Dallas’s Bishop Arts District in a cheerful pink storefront adorned with a Saturday morning breakfast-themed mural, this cereal bar and ice cream lounge boasts a rotating selection of over 700 cereals from around the world, with promises that at least 100 are always in stock.
Owner Michael Goode, a lifelong cereal collector, turned his childhood love of sugary breakfast into a dessert dreamland. Alongside co-owner Kiana Hernandez, he transformed his passion into a place that celebrates the magic of simple pleasures, where a scoop of homemade ice cream or a spoonful of cereal is meant to evoke a warm feeling, like a hug from the past.
And the nostalgia doesn’t stop at cereal. Inside, you’ll find homemade ice cream, cereal-inspired milkshakes, international snacks and retro arcade favorites like Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. The shop also stocks quirky treats like unique candies, Kellogg’s cereal-flavored lip balms and a whimsical line of merch that includes cereal socks. Yes, that means you can rep your Raisin Bran right down to your toes.
Whether you're pouring a classic bowl or swirling your favorite brand into a milkshake, cereal-flavored coffee, homemade ice cream, or even a Pop-Tart ice cream sandwich, there’s no wrong way to indulge. For the adventurous, there's a global tasting experience waiting - like squid ink cereal from South Korea or a spicy Hot Cheetos blend, depending on the current selection. And yes, every cereal bowl comes with a free surprise toy, just like cereal boxes used to.
At The Spelled Milk, sampling is highly encouraged, especially since international cereals (like Froot Loops) taste surprisingly different from country to country. And for super fans, there is a "Cereal Passport" challenge: try all 100 featured cereals and collect a stamp for each one.
With its warm vibes, whimsical decor and open-late hours (until 2 a.m. nightly), The Spelled Milk is a full-on sweet escape.
