The popular food truck Vaquero's Texas Bar-B-Q will no longer be serving customers at Hop & Sting Brewery in Grapevine, according to the company website. A stand alone Vaquero's restaurant will open this month in Allen.
For those that frequented Vaquero's, the eatery was anything but "just a food truck."
The founder, Arnulfo "Trey" Sanchez, has more than 35 years of barbecue experience and has served Vaquero's customers a menu that includes rotating flavors of tacos, brisket nachos, smoked pibil, spicy cucumber salad, hickory smoked elote and more.
Notably, Vaquero's barbecue birria was recognized nationally and featured on Cooking Channel's "Man Fire Food" and "Man's Greatest Food." It was also rated the fourteenth-best "cheesy dish" in the country by the Cooking Channel. Vaquero's was also included in a New York Times article called "The 20 Best Texas Barbecue Restaurants" and Texas Monthly's "50 Best Tacos in Texas."
The brick-and-mortar Vaquero's will be located in Allen's Watter's Creek.
