While Willhoite’s temporarily closed its doors to the public on March 18, the Grapevine restaurant continues to support Metroport Meals on Wheels.
Willhoite’s has been a supporter of the nonprofit, which provides more hot lunches to more than 200 homebound senior citizens and others in need, since 2009. And through that time, the restaurant has prepared an average of 25 lunches daily and is currently responsible for three routes in Grapevine.
These meals include favorites like fried chicken, meatloaf and lasagna, along with a side dish, vegetable and bread. After the food is prepared, volunteers pick up and deliver these meals to recipient homes.
“We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with Metroport Meals on Wheels, but we are not the hero in this story,” says Willhoite’s co-owner Eric Parker via press release. “Instead, we salute the volunteers who show up in our kitchen five days a week. Now, more than ever, we are grateful for their community service and unwavering willingness to help others.”
