The Gig ‘Em Club is a new organization serving former and current Texas A&M University students in the Northeast Tarrant County area. On Saturday, July 21st from 11am – 1pm, the Gig ‘Em Club will host Dr. John Thornton and Coach Dat Nguyen at Carroll Middle School for a luncheon to discuss A&M's move to the SEC, future plans for Kyle Field, the outlook of the 2012 football season, and many more exciting topics. Please visit the Gig 'Em Club for tickets and more details.
The club hosted 150 Aggies on April 21st at the kickoff event, Aggie Muster, at Stampede Sports and is looking forward to a host of family friendly events throughout the year. The Gig ‘Em Club was formed when a group of Aggies attended Coach's Night in Dallas last summer and realized that they'd love to attend events closer to home in Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, and Keller. Jimbo Cross, John Huffman, Payton Mayes, Brian Minyard and their families soon began talking about the idea of a family friendly A&M club to serve this area and the Gig ‘Em Club was off and running! ”We're excited about the response we've had from Aggies around the area,” says Jimbo Cross, Club President. “We were thrilled to have such a big turnout for Muster and hope to keep growing.”
The club awarded three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in May and hopes to grow the scholarship program in coming years with increased membership and fundraising. “Awarding scholarships is an important part of our mission – it's a key part of what we can contribute to this community,” says Payton Mayes, Muster Chair.
