Introducing the United Relax Row: Economy Seats that Transform into a Couch for More Comfortable International Travel
For work and play, we love to travel, it’s a big part of the reason families choose to call North Texas home. Southlake area families know the drill especially well. When it’s time to jet-set, we usually march straight to any American Airlines terminal— it’s our home turf, our comfort zone, and where our loyalty points live. But hold onto your designer carry-ons, because United Airlines is about to give many of us a very tempting reason to reconsider our loyalties for those long-haul getaways.
United just announced the United Relax Row, and it’s essentially a "couch in the sky." We’re talking about a row of three economy seats that transform into a flat surface thanks to adjustable leg rests that flip up 90 degrees. It’s the ultimate economy-based luxury for those who aren’t quite ready to spring for a private jet but really, really want to stretch out.
Whether you’re heading to London or Tokyo, this setup is a total game-changer. No more wrestling a toddler in a cramped seat; instead, you get a custom-fitted mattress pad, a plush blanket, and extra pillows. Your little ones may even get a Sesame Street travel kit featuring Oscar the Grouch perfect for calming down before joining the mile-high nap club.
If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, you can book the whole row to yourself or enjoy loveseat level coziness. While we love our DFW staples, United is currently the only North American airline planning to offer this level of stretch-room in the economy cabin.
The Relax Row is set to debut in 2027 on Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft. So, there’s time to build up some ulterior loyalty points before couch life makes its mark.
