The Congressional Medalbrof Honor is our country's highest military honor, bestowed on individuals whobrwent above and beyond the call of duty. Today, recipients of this honor will bebrpassing through Southlake in a special motorcade en route to Gainesville for abrweekend of celebration and activities.
A record number of firstbrresponders are participating in the ride, along with motorcycle groupsbrincluding the Christian Motorcycle Association, the Blue Knights and thebrPatriot Guard Riders.
Two fire engines will bebrpositioned on top of the Carroll Avenue bridge, and the Southlake and GrapevinebrFire Departments will lower a large American flag between the trucks to salutebrthe Medal of Honor recipients.
All are invited to cheerbron these living heroes this afternoon. The last Medal of Honor recipientbrarrives at DFW Airport at 4 p.m., and then the caravan will depart forbrGainesville along Highway 114. More than 550 vehicles are participating, andbrthe motorcade is expected to stretch for eight to nine miles.
